Casa Ortega was built by the mexican architect Luis Barragán (1902-1988) for himself in 1940-42. One can visit the gardens of Casa Ortega – not to be confused with the Casa Barragán – which is just adjacent. It contains some beautiful spots with several basins where fresh water bubbles. Clearly showing that conceiving a garden too can be architecture. The surroundings have changed as much as the garden seems to be preserved and you can hear the never ending heavy traffic of Mexico City in this peaceful environment. It’s much of a time lapse experience.
